Where does a City degree lead? Graduate destinations revealed

Companies
Where does a City degree take you? This ‘word cloud’ shows who has been employing City Journalism postgraduates.* Each organisation’s name appears in a size proportionate to the number of alumni who currently work there.
According to the database, nine per cent of alumni call themselves freelancers, and 250 work for the BBC – making it the largest employer of City graduates.
*= Based on data on City’s Journalism postgraduate students between 1978-2005, held by the City alumni office. The years 1976, 1977, 1994, 2004, 2006, and 2007 were not included because the data sets were incomplete.
The map shows the distribution of City students around the world. Most alumni who relocated chose to do so in the USA. Many are also taking advantage of new opportunities in the East – over nine percent of those living abroad now live in Singapore, China, Malaysia, Japan, India and Pakistan. A surprising statistic is the number of alumni who live in Norway. Almost one in ten graduates has moved there, making it the second most popular destination after the USA.
